Trying out the copper crisper first time
We all see infomercials and the copper crisper caught my eye for sure. Starting to think of all the veggies I have tried to make into chips on cookie sheets. Can I say not so great and a pain in the ass trying to turn them over. Then some are burnt and some are under cooked. So when I saw this product I wondered if it did what it claimed to. Yesterday I happened to be in Target and saw the seen on tv isle and there was the copper crisper, so I picked it up. Having some broccolini sitting in my frigerator that was calling my name.
The product and directions were simple enough, so preheated oven to 425 and sprayed my broccolini with some olive oil spray and sprinkled lemon pepper all over and set on tray. Then I realized I had some mozzarella cheese. Wondering what recipe I could do with that on this thing. Sliced 4 pieces of the mozzarella, took a slice of salami, placing a slice onto two pieces, grabbed a few leaves of basil from the garden, sandwiched it in with another slice of cheese and walla. Wait maybe, just maybe I could get it to crunch up with an egg wash and some almond flour. Worth a shot anyway. So that is what I did.
Placing my cheese and salami concoction onto the tray next to my broccolini and into the preheated oven they went. Only about 10 minutes in and everything looked cooked and crisp enough. The broccolini was amazing. Crisp ends that melted in my mouth with a hint of lemon flavoring. My mozzarella creation, was as you can guess melting thru the squares, but for the most part held up. I will say it was very yummy and I will keep at this recipe to fine tune it until I can get it to the point of being like mozzarella salami sticks that you get in a restaurant.
So bon apetite my fellow foodies and if you have some great recipes please post them.
