Tonight my son reminded me that I wanted to try out Lucky Foos. Its a sushi and steak place near my home in Las Vegas, NV and has been several restaurants before, my son reminding me at one time it was even a melting pot. None seemed to make it and usually after 1 visit we never had gone back either. I actually looked at the spot several years back to put a British pub in, however the lay out of the building was so choppy, with a lot of square footage and just didn’t seem to make sense. However with a name like that how could we pass it up, so out we went. Deciding to sit at the front sushi bar, we were pretty early for dinner so had our pick of the place. The front sushi bar is rectangular in shape with half inside and half outside on the patio and if it wasn’t so darn hot we would of sat outside. We sat inside looking out so that was next best thing and began to look at the happy hour menu while sipping on some hot sake. There hot sake carafe was pretty cool, bamboo style. Looking around I was pretty impressed at there use of the place, they may actually be able to make this work for them.
Our Chef was talkative and amusing with stories of living in Catalina. My son ordered salmon sushi (Ebiyaki) and I the chili edemame to start which was on the happy hour menu. Continuing on decided on the Tiger roll, yes with soy paper as I always do and that was very good. My son was still hungry and just then we noticed the special board on the wall and ordered up one of those that had sliced apple in it, which gave it a nice little crunch. Now we are fat and happy and our conversation slowed so we asked for the bill ($50) and went home satisfied. I will definitely go back and try this again sometime and recommend anyone who happens to be drive by to stop in.
